What's in store for you this year?

In preparation

What's in store for you this year?

So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. [Galatians 5:16 NIV]

The hardest battle that one has to fight is the battle with one’s self. Our human urges have been hard-wired into our brains aeons ago that it becomes our primary reason for decision-making. It has created a void that we’ve always tried to fill with whatever it is that we think will keep us satisfied. It won’t be long until we realize that all these selfish desires only leave us feeling like a used soft drink tin can; crushed, empty and useless. If our goal this year is to put God first, then we should all the more deny ourselves of our wants and even our needs. There should only be one wish in our hearts as we start the year and even as we continue onwards. It is to be in need of God. When we take out our self-centered nature, we leave more room for our God-centered nature. We become more sensitive to what He wants and not what we want.

Today I lay down all I want, and all I need at His feet; for today, I only need Him who is the sole purpose why I live. Yes, I will continue living, but at the same time, I will continue thinking how I desperately need Him.

But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. [Matthew 6:33 NIV]
